A dear colleague, mentor, and friend
In April 2025, we lost Laurence Peckham, a man whose energy, warmth and irrepressible humour shaped both Inspire Media and the lives of those lucky enough to work alongside him.
While Inspire Media began as David Barker’s vision, over the years that followed, it was Laurence who became the driving force, running projects across the UK and Europe with integrity, insight, and his unmistakable style.
Many of us first met Laurence in the fast-paced world of NRS Media. The work was intense, the expectations high, and Laurence thrived, forging bonds that would endure through thick and thin! He is missed by the original NRS crew: David Barker, Charly Turnbull, Andrew Harding, Antonio Aznar, Daniel Vincent, and Nadine Cameron, and, of course, by those who joined the journey during the Inspire KBB years, including Chloe Connolly and Sarah Clark.
Laurence had over 30 years’ experience in media, working with over 100 broadcast and print outlets in 18 countries. But what set him apart wasn’t just his global insight or strategic mind; it was his deep belief in people. His colleagues knew him for his unwavering focus on relationships. He often said that “people buy from people they like”, and Laurence made it easy to like him!
His leadership style was grounded in passion, humour, and a sense of shared purpose. He believed that people should want to work with you, not feel that they have to.
And then, of course, there was the Gorilla. Laurence’s infamous mantra:
"Customer Service is like making love to a Gorilla. You don’t stop when you are satisfied, you stop when the Gorilla is satisfied!"
A quote only Laurence could carry off, and that, somehow, made perfect sense when he said it!
We are proud to have called Laurence our colleague and friend. His impact on Inspire Media and the wider media world is indelible.
Lozza, you will be deeply missed.
